Safety

Silica gel is made from high purity (99% or more) silica dioxide. Silica dioxide is chemically stable, with no toxicity. It is not digested by the body; therefore, even if it is consumed, there are no concerns regarding poisoning.

Purpose

It is widely used in the drying of foodstuffs and pharmaceuticals, in preventing moisture in semiconductors and precision mechanical equipment, and in rust prevention. It is the only drying agent approved by Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for use in packaging, and thus is an essential item in moisture-proof packaging.
